How do you start fishing in Fields of Mistria?
Buy a fishing rod from Terithia’s Tackle Shop on the beach, as confirmed by NPC Studio’s official support page. Then fish in the water type required by the target species and check its season, weather, time, size, and rarity. Seeing water on the map does not mean every fish can appear there.

Mine fishing is divided by region rather than treated as one universal pool. Reaching a mine area does not guarantee every mine fish without the remaining conditions. Use the specific fish record when a collection entry is missing.
Why is a fish not appearing?
Check the required water type first, then season, weather, and time. “All season” means a fish can appear across seasons; it does not mean any location, weather, or water type works. River Snail, Newt, Squid, Pond Snail, Tuna, and Goby appear as all-season examples in the collected season data, but each still has its own location and other fields.
Size and rarity can also help identify the correct shadow or bait. Do not reduce a fish to season alone or call it random when another condition is missing. If a table combines old and current versions, use the current Wiki revision before planning a rare catch.

Fish Bait and Fish Traps
The current fishing data says Fish Bait can come from Terrariums and attract fish of a corresponding rarity. Bait can also be placed in a Fish Trap for a daily item. These mechanics are marked as potentially spoiler-sensitive in the source material.
Patch v1.0.3 specifically fixes Fish Bait so it can be thrown into pond corners. If bait behaves differently, verify the installed version before assuming the location is invalid. Modded behavior should be tested without mods before reporting a base-game issue.
Should you sell or donate a new fish?
