What gifts should you give in Fields of Mistria?
Each character sorts gifts into Loved, Liked, Disliked, and Hated preferences. Choose a verified Loved gift when you have one to spare, use an accessible Liked gift for routine visits, and avoid guessing with a rare item. Gifting supports friendship, which leads into romance for eligible candidates.
Gift data can change as items and characters are updated. Check the item name, character page, and game version before spending something difficult to replace. The examples below are drawn from the collected guide body and current character gift pages, but they are not presented as every item accepted by every resident.

| Reina | Apple Honey Curry, Breaded Catfish, Seafood Boil, Spell Fruit Parfait, Sushi Platter | Cooking-heavy list. |
| Ryis | Golden animal materials, Hard Wood, Lobster Roll, Veggie Sub Sandwich | Common materials may be Liked rather than Loved. |

| Valen | Beet, Beet Salad, Beet Soup, Harvest Plate, Summer Salad, Vegetable Soup | Beet is a comparatively simple collected example. |
These are examples, not a complete replacement for each Love/Like/Dislike/Hate table. Character pages should own full lists so one changed preference is not copied across several articles. Current details for March, Juniper, and Caldarus are linked below.
Choose repeatable gifts, not only rare favorites
A Loved gift is not always the best routine choice if it consumes a perfect gem, golden animal product, rare artifact, or late-game ingredient. Match the gift to your current inventory and progression. A reliable Liked forageable or prepared item can be more sustainable than repeatedly sacrificing a collection item.
For Juniper, the collected guide identifies Middlemist in spring, Fog Orchid in fall, and Poinsettia in winter as accessible seasonal directions, subject to the current preference page. March’s Liked examples include ordinary ores and ingots, while his Loved list emphasizes perfect ores, higher-value ingots, Meteorite, and food. Use the Juniper and March pages for their focused tables.
Why can’t you give Caldarus a gift?
The current Caldarus gift page says gifting is unavailable until the story quest Breaking The Fire Seal is complete. Changing items will not bypass that prerequisite. Continue the main story before troubleshooting gift preferences.
After the prerequisite, consult the Caldarus guide for spoiler-light gift and romance information. Unlocking gifts does not automatically satisfy every heart-event or romance condition. Those steps remain separate.
Which gifts should you avoid?
The collected all-character guide repeatedly places Bugs, Junk, and Weird Gifts in negative categories for many residents, but exceptions exist. Dozy and Luc, for example, have insect-related preferences, so a site-wide “nobody likes bugs” rule would be false. Use the recipient’s own table rather than a generic category shortcut.
Never assume an animal treat, quest item, museum item, or rare resource is safe to gift just because the game allows selection. Check whether it is needed elsewhere and whether the recipient actually Likes or Loves it. Use only preferences shown in the current Social data; this guide omits unsupported preference claims.
How should birthdays be handled?
Birthdays are a high-intent reason to check a character page. Save a Loved gift when practical and verify the birthday date in the current Social or character data. Do not rely on an old calendar without checking the version.
March’s birthday is Spring 16 and Juniper’s is Fall 26 in the cross-checked material. This guide omits other birthday dates instead of inferring them. Gift preferences, item availability, and character unlocks should be reviewed after major updates.
